ter·rar·i·um [tuh-rair-ee-uhm]
1. a vivarium for land animals (distinguished from aquarium).
2. a glass container, chiefly or wholly enclosed, for growing and displaying plants.
Recently, I saw that Bows and Sparrows had a terrarium workshop. Terrariums remind me Biosphere 2, recently acquired by the University of Arizona. It’s truly a time capsule- a slightly decrepit human terrarium. I loved it. It reminded me of all those dystopian science fiction stories I loved growing up. Terrariums make me think of the 70s when they mixed sleek modern design with a hint of nature peaking around the corner.
I’d like to make one of my own just to have a bit of the desert with me. So I’ve been doing my research. And since terrariums are making a come back (according to the New York Times) like so much decor of the 70s… the blogs are rife with terrarium information. So here’s allllllll the information I gathered.
